3 Ways To Clean Your Poly Furniture

The elements of winter can leave your poly furniture looking dirty but with a few easy steps, you can have your furniture set looking good as new and ready for outdoor enjoyment.

1. Use dish soap and warm water for basic spills

Minor spills and stains can be removed by using soap and warm water. Use a rag or a soft bristle brush to scrub the infected area and use a garden hose to rinse. Stainless steel hardware can be tougher to clean especially if the furniture is near the coast and exposed to salt water. A small brush (like a tooth brush) should be used to clean the hardware from corrosion.

2. Use 1/3 bleach and 2/3 water solution for tougher stains

Mix 1/3 bleach and 2/3 water into a spray bottle and spray over the hard-to-get stains in your poly furniture. Use a soft bristle brush or rag to scrub the stain. For harder stains simple spray on your bleach and water solution and let it soak on the poly for 5 minutes before scrubbing with a brush or rag. Because of the UV protection applied to poly furniture during the manufacturing process it is important not to use stronger solutions like acids or undiluted bleach to clean your furniture. Strong chemicals and hard bristle brushes could damage the surface of your furniture.

3. Use a pressure washer for a quick washing

A pressure washer (which does not exceed 1500 psi.) can be used to clean your poly furniture from dirt and algae which naturally collects over time. Caution should be taken not to get too close to the furniture with the sprayer so as not to damage the protective UV coating on the furniture. Stainless steel hardware can be tougher to clean especially if the furniture is near the coast and exposed to salt water. A small brush (like a tooth brush) should be used to clean the hardware from corrosion.

With these quick and easy steps, you should have your poly furniture looking as good as new and ready for hours of outdoor enjoyment!
